• In a letter from the EHD dated August 1 , 1995, they requested an
additional well to the jeSrt of well BM-9. Also an investigation
of the subsurface data available at present, we are proposing an
additional boring on the northeast side of the site.
SCOPE OF WORK
We Propose to drill one additional well BW-12 and one additional
boring B-2 . The proposed locations are shown on Fig. 2 . The
well will be drilled, completed, developed and sampled according
the QA/QC protocols attached. The boring will be drilled,
sampled and destroyed with neat cement.
The well (BW-12) is located on City of Stockton property in the
sidewalk of Stanislaus St. The boring is located on private
property. The drilling, development, surveying and sampling
will take about 2 weeks. Once this work plan is approved, we will
submit a permit application for the well , to the Environmental
Management Department. An active drilling permit exist for the
property where the boring is to be placed.
The reason for the location of the well is to attempt to define
the source of the TPH concentrated groundwater plume an the area
around the Sun Gardens restaurant and the ARCO Station.
• The reason for the boring is to obtain information about the
limits of the unsaturated zone contaminants at this site.
The well will be drilled to a depth of at least 65 feet, which is
projected to be 10 feet below the water table. In previous wells
the top of a clay zone was found about 55 feet below the surface.
The well will be constructed using 2 inch PVC slotted casing from
40 feet below the surface (bgs) to 65 feet bgs. Blank casing
will be placed from the surface to 40 feet. Number 3 sand will be
placed opposite the slotted casing and up to a level of 35 feet.
A bentonite seal made of hydrated bentonite chips will be placed
from 35 to 32 feet to inhibit the cement slurry infiltration into
the sand pack. A well seal of neat cement with 5% bentonite will
be placed in the annulus from 32 feet to the surface. The well
will be capped with a steel traffic box.
