The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division (EHD) has
sent a letter dated August 1 , 1995 . With regard to our claim
that an off site plume appears to be migrating onto this
site, the EHD states that the benzene levels in well BM-9 are
attributed to calculation, sampling and handling errors or that
the gasoline has migrated from the site's source area and pooled
around BM-9 . They also state the elevated readings do not
represent a significant difference in contaminant concentrations.
We believe the groundwater is confined. Figure 2 is a cross-
section between BM-9 and B-1 . This section is located just north
of the north sidewalk of Charter Way. The confining lenses can
be seen around BM-9 between 50 and 60 feet bgs.
The EHD recommends further work to define the limits of this
plume around BM-9 . A work plan will be presented in the near
future to further define the groundwater plume to the west.
Also the vapor extraction wells will be drilled this quarter.
Yours ruly,
/John Cussen
Reg.
