The drill cuttings from BM-10 and BM-11 tested to have only minor
I amounts of contamination and we request this soil be permitted to
be disposed of as ordinary soil .
The unsaturated zone contamination is defined to the north, west
and east. The soil to the south (Charter Way) is not well
defined because of Charter Way. Further defination in this
' direction is not possible.
The groundwater plume is defined in all directions for
1 contamination originating from the site. Contamination from a
source to the west of the site is not defined.
It will be possible to remove the ma3ority of the contamination
' in the unsaturated zone. The air permeability test reported in
our Quarterly Report dated May 12 , 1994 showed a radius of
influence of 25 feet, which indicates a soil air permeability of
7 Darceys . The soil should be treated at or near the water table
as well as the upper layers.
The groundwater may give up its contaminate load once the soil
' above the capillary fringe has a contaminate load lower than that
of the water. If this is the case then pumping and treating the
' water plume may not be necessary.
' Distribution
' Copies of this report should be sent to the San Joaquin Health
Department and the RWQCB Central Valley Region.
' Limitation
The results of this investigation do not preclude the
possibility of substances that are currently or in the future
' Page 8
