5 feet below the surface of the water table.
' The chemical MtBE was not tested for this quarter. It was tested
for four quarters and no MtBE was found.
The ferrous iron, nitrate and sulfate levels were not tested
for this quarter. The anaerobic activity has been documented as
taking place in the past and no further testing for it is
planned. We tested for dissolved oxygen concentrations which
I indicates aerobic activity and we will continue to perform these
tests in the future.
' The benzene levels continue to be above 100 ug/L in well MW-11
which is the downgradient at this site. Perhaps a well located
further gradient is warranted, we await comments from the DHS.
On May 13 , 1997 , we executed the work plan dated February 14,
1997 and approved by the DHS on March 4 , 1997. We introduced
Oxygen Release Compound (ORC) into 8 wells on the site. The
I purpose of this is to lower the amount of gasoline contaminate in
the groundwater under the site and reduce the amount of
contamination leaving the site. The number of pounds of ORC
Iplaced in the casing in each well is as follows:
WELL Pounds ORC
MW-1 8
MW-2 8
MW-3 8
MW-4 22
MW-6 21
MW-7 22
MW-9 22
Sparge 4
In the future we will be testing for oxygen concentrations in
wells MW-5 and MW-8 to see of increases occur and if TPH levels
decrease.
This quarter we installed the Vapor Extraction System along with
I the associated utilities. At present the electric motor of the
VES system is being repaired. This system will be placed in
operation in the latter half of May, 1997 .
I
Page 2
