Charter Way
Stockton, CA
' Project No 724 2
November 12, 1999
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report summarizes the additional soil and groundwater investigative work conducted on
September 16, 1999 Two soil borings were drilled at the site and converted into
groundwater monitoring wells Soil samples showed only a low level of benzene in the 50-
foot sample collected from MW-4 All other soil samples were non-detect
i
On September 21, 1999, a licensed surveyor surveyed the site into a known benchmark
elevation
I
2.0 SCOPE OF INVESTIGATION
2.1 Soil Boring Installation
I In an effort to define the lateral extent of gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons, two (2) soil
borings were drilled to a depth of 50 feet below ground surface (bgs) The boreholes were
drilled with an 8-inch outside diameter, continuous flight, hollow-stem auger owned and
operated by V&W Drilling (C57# 720904) from Rio Vista, California
Monitoring well permits were secured from the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services/Environmental Health Department (SJC PHS/EHD) The local regulatory agency
was notified 48 hours prior to commencing work
n Soil cuttings and drilling decontamination water were placed in DOT-17 approved 55 gallon
I drums and moved to the back of the site until their disposal can be arranged
2.1.1 Soil Sampling Procedure
Soil samples were collected for geological and laboratory evaluation at five-foot intervals
from ground surface to total depth A boring log providing sediment description using the
USCS and field observations was maintained by a professional geologist working under the
supervision of a registered geologist Soil samples were collected in 6 0-inch brass liners
I
