$. <br /> ' SITE HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN <br /> ' SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The site is located at 814 East Charter Way in the city of Stockton in San Joaquin <br /> County, California (Figure 1) The site was formerly operated as a gasoline service <br /> station <br /> ' The site is situated within a mixed commercial and residential area Nearby <br /> properties are primarily commercial businesses The overall site topography is <br /> tessentially flat with a very slight fall to the west <br /> SITE HISTORY <br /> Based on a review of analytical results, and conversations with Richard Warren, the <br /> project manager for the tank removal contractor Crisp Construction Company, on <br /> December 27, 1991, a 5,000 gallon underground leaded gasoline storage tank, a 5,000 <br /> gallon underground unleaded gasoline storage tank, a 2,000 gallon underground <br /> ' premium unleaded gasoline storage tank, a 500 gallon underground waste oil tank, a <br /> dispenser island, and associated product pipelines were removed from the Morita <br /> Brothers Service Station which was formerly a mini market and gasoline sales <br /> facility Reportedly, no soil was removed from the site during removal of the tanks <br /> and dispensers, the areas displaced by the former tanks were filled by backfilling the <br /> ' excavated soil along with imported soil <br /> ' During the UST removal activities soil samples were collected from beneath the <br /> tanks, dispensers, and product pipelines Subsequent laboratory analysis of the soil <br /> ' samples indicated that concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPI-1) as <br /> gasoline and the gasoline constituent volatile aromatics beneath the north end of the <br /> ' gasoline product pipelines, and beneath the former 5,000 gallon underground <br /> i <br /> unleaded gasoline storage tank were in excess of State Water Resources Control Board <br /> (WRCB) Action Levels for these compounds in soil <br /> 1 <br /> Based on these analytical results, ESE was retained to perform a site characterization <br /> A total of seven soil borings were drilled within this phase of soil characterization A <br />
