3.3 Laboratory Analysis of Soil Samples
A total of four soil samples were analyzed. All four soil samples were analyzed for total
N petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as gasoline) and volatile aromatics (BTE&X) in accordance
with EPA methods 8015m and 8020, respectively. One sample was also analyzed for EDB
in accordance with EPA method 8011.
4.0 FINDINGS
4.1 Stratigraphy
In the boring, B-1, backfill material (pea gravel) was encountered from the surface to a
depth of approximately 5 feet. Silty sand was encountered from a depth of 5 feet to
approximately 22 feet. Fine- and medium-grained sands were encountered from a depth of
approximately 22 feet to a depth of approximately 30 feet. No organic vapors were detected
in samples from B-1. The boring log is included in Appendix A.
,-, 4.2 ' Analytical Results of Soil Samples
No TPI I as gasoline, BTE&X or EDB was detected in any of the analyzed soil samples. The
laboratory report and chain-of-custody are included in Appendix C.
5.0 CONCI,US107,1 :
Although very low concentrations of hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples collected
after the UST removal, laboratory analysis of soil samples from boring B-1 indicates that no
hydrocarbon impacted soil is Irreserrtin the area of the former UST excavation.
In our opinion, further investigation of this site is not warranted at this time. Therefore,
GeoAudit recornrnends site closure certification.
6.0 LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily
exercised by environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities. The findings
were based upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory. Evaluations of
the geologic/hydrogeologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are
made from a limited number of available data points (i.e. monitoring wells, soil samples)
a and subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points. No other warranty,
expressed or implied, is made as to tine professional recommendations contained in this
report.
G-baio!Audu S--,Inc. 5
N—M.i 939 PIERA037/Dec 1991
