t 1 l 1'
Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc . ~o
26 May 2009
AGE-NC Project No. 02-0962
Mr. Mike Infurna
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department-
600 East Main Street
Stockton,California 95201
Subject: Revision to Quarterly Update-First Quarter 2009
VANCO TRUCK&AUTO PLAZA
1033 West Curter Way,Stockton,California
Dear Mr. Infurna:
On behalf of Mr. David Atwater of Van De Pol Enterprises, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
(AGE)has prepared this revision to the Quarterly Updat -First Quarter 2009,dated 30 April 2009,
for Vanco Truck&Auto Plaza,located at 1033 West C iarter Way, Stockton CA(site).
AGE had previously prepared the Quarterly Update - First Quarter 2009 and notified the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department ( HD) that a soil vapor investigation (i.e.
collection of two soil vapor samples)would be performed during the third quarter 2009. The EHD
had previously directed the performance of a soil vapor intrusion evaluation by letter dated 24 March
2009. The evaluation was directed based upon diesel ' pact encountered at the site exceeding the
San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control oard's Environmental Screening Levels
(ESLs).However, after further review of the soil data,A E believes that residual soil contamination
left in place will not pose a significant threat to human an al
or to the environment.The following
is submitted for your consideration:
• The Vanco site is surfaced by either concrete or asphalt, thereby creating a barrier for
potential soil vapor direct exposure.. .
• The Vanco mire-mart building was built on concrete slab, thereby creating a barrier for
potential soil vapor direct exposure.
• Diesel is a longer-chain(i.e. heavier) hydroc n and isnot generally considered to be a
volatile compound.
• There is no soil=vapor California EPA Human Health Screening Level(CHHSL)for diesel.
• Diesel has not been identified as a "known inogen" by either the Environmental
Protection Agency nor the California Environmental Protection Agency.
• The Vanco site will remain a commercial petrol fueling station for the foreseeable.-future.-
837
oreseeable future.837 Shaw Road,Stockton,California 95215
Telephone(209)467-1046 Fax 209)467-1118
