, <br /> r r <br /> I11'November 2004 r , <br /> AGE-NC Project No 02-0962 h <br /> Page 7 of 14 <br /> 3 5"" 'WELL MONITORING AND EVACUATION <br /> I <br /> - <br /> On 09 August 2004, a Solmst_water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in <br /> all three monitoring wells relative to�the tops of the well casings After the depth to ground water <br /> measurements were collected,casing water in each monitoring well was evacuated using a Waterra <br /> inertiapump and dedicated tubing Approximately 3 25 to 5 25 gallons ofwater were evacuated from <br /> each of the monitoring wells, equivalent to three casing-water volumes per well <br /> Temperature,pH, and conductivity of the purged water were measured at regular intervals using an <br /> ' Oakton water analyzer Field data lags are provided in Appendix B Purged water was containerized <br /> in properly labeled,75H 55-gallon Department of Transportation-approved drums and stored on-site <br /> 3 6 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUNDWATER SAMPLES <br /> Water samples were collected from each monitoring well using a Waterra inertia pump and dedicated <br /> tubing after allowing the well to achieve a minimum 80%recovery of the pre-purge water volume <br /> The samples from each well were transferred into three 40-milliliter (ml) volatile organic analysis <br /> (VOA) vials containing 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid solution as a sample preservative, and one <br /> 1-liter amber bottle without preservative The samples were labeled with the monitoring well <br /> designation,date,time of sampling,and the sampler's initials and transported in a chilled container <br />' under chain of custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a Department of Health <br /> Services-certified analytical laboratory, for analysis The samples were analyzed for <br /> TPH-g and TPH=d in accordance with EPA Method 8015M, and 4 <br /> • 'BTEX and the fuel oxygenates MTBE, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, TAME,EDB, and 1,2-DCA in <br /> Iaccordance with EPA Method 8260B <br /> I4.0.r, FINDINGS <br />' Soil'descriptions and CPT logs were utilized to update the site geologic/hydrogeologic model, <br /> laboratory analysis of grab soil and grab ground water samples were utilized to assess the petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon-impact to soil and ground water ,Ground water elevation and flow direction were- <br /> inferred from field data, and hydrocarbon impact to ground water was quantified by laboratory <br /> analysis of the monitoring well ground water samples <br /> I � Advanced GeoEnveronmental,Inc <br /> i <br /> r i <br />
