• Preliminary Site Assessment Report <br /> VANCO TRUCK& AUTO PLAZA <br />' 1033 West Charter Way, Stockton, California <br />' 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request-of Mr David Atwater of Van De Pol Enterprises,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc <br />' (AGE)has prepared the enclosed Preliminary Site Assessment Report for 1033 West Charter Way, <br /> Stockton, California (site) The purpose of the Investigation was to assess the lateral and vertical <br />' extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil and ground water at the site The scope of work <br /> included the establishment of seven soil bonngs, collection and analysis of soil and `grab' ground <br /> water samples and preparation of this report The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1 A plan <br />' of the site is illustrated on Figure 2 <br /> This report has been prepared in accordance with guidelines issued by the Central Valley Regional <br /> I Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) for subsurface investigations of underground storage <br /> tank (UST) systems <br /> u <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> The site is situated in an area of mixed commercial and light industrial use,bordered by Navy Drive <br /> on the north and West Charter Way on the south The prominent features on the subject property are <br /> depicted in Figure 2 <br /> 21 REGIONAL GEOLOGIC /HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> The site is situated within the southern portion of the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of <br /> California, a large, elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough, the northern and <br /> southern portions of the Province have been designated the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, <br /> respectively The Province is bordered by the Coast Ranges to the west,the Klamath Mountains and <br /> ICascade Range to the north, and the Siena Nevada to the east <br /> The Great Valley has been filled with sediments derived from both marine and continental sources <br /> I Thickness of the sedimentary fill ranges from thin veneers along the valley edges to` more than <br /> 20,000 feet in the south central portion of the valley The sedimentary formations range in age from <br /> Jurassic to Recent,with the older deposits being primarily marine in origin and the younger deposits <br /> being primarily continental Continental-derived sediments were primarily deposited in lacustrine, <br /> fluvial,and alluvial environments with sediment sources being the mountain ranges surrounding the <br /> valley(Olmsted and Davis, 1961), the site itself is located on unconsolidated and semi-consolidated <br />' alluvium, lake, playa and terrace deposits of Quaternary age (California Division of Mines and <br /> Geology, 1977) Rocks composing the basement complex of the Province have not been completely <br /> defined but are believed to be metamorphic and igneous in origin <br /> Advanced GeoEnvi ron mental,Inc <br /> II <br />
