January 26 , 1989
Nomellini & Grilli
Attn : Dante John Nomellini
P . 0 . Box 1461
Stockton, CA 95201-1461
RE : 1045 W . CHARTER WAY ; STOCKTON
SUBSURFACE ENVIRONMENTAL INVESTIGATION
Please be advised that this office has reviewed the above referenced work
plan . We have found the plan to be adequate provided the following
considerations are addressed .
1 . The work plan, as submitted by Kleinfelder and dated November 16 ,
1988 , adequately addresses the issue of groundwater investigation . Your
letter dated January 3 , 1989 suggests that a "phased " approach to the site ' s
investigation will take place , and that a groundwater investigation may not
k take place under this November 16 work plan . Due to the proximity of
'r groundwater , a groundwater investigation will be necessary regardless of the
i
outcome of this soil evaluation .
E
Enclosed is an informational packet outlining the steps to obtain the
f necessary permits to facilitate the groundwater investigation .
c
These issues should be addressed in a revised sampling plan which must be
submitted to this office for approval prior to initiating the work plan .
It should be noted that additional sampling may be necessary should the
N results of the sampling effort not adequately define the extent of
t contamination .
i
If you have any question, please contact Diane M . Hinson of my staff at
( 209 ) 468-3420 .
Jogi Khanna, M .
