` f
' 02 August 2000
AGE-NC Project No 95-0121
Page 7 of 7 _
' 6.0. , RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon second quarter 2000 data collected from the site, AGE recommends
' Reduction of quarterly monitonng/sampling events to semi-annual monitonng/sampling
events at the site Thus far, twenty-five ground water momtonng/sampling events have been
performed at wells MW-1 through MW-9 from February 1991 to April 2000 Because the
' bulk of petroleum-impacted soil at the site has submerged below the ground water table, air
spargmg is being utilized at the site to mechanically strip petroleum contaminants below the z
ground water table, which could extend the remedial process longer than anticipated AGE
believes that quarterly ground water monitoring events at this stage of the investigation is not
cost effective and will not provide enough useful information to supplement the ongoing
' investigation Semi-annual monitoring/sampling events should be adequate to monitor the
remedial progress at the site and should be re-evaluated on a semi-annual basis The next
monitoring/sampling event should be scheduled for November 2000
' Wells VW-3, VW-4, VW-5, VW-6,VW-7, VW-8 and VW-9 (screened 5 to 20 feet bsg) are
screened through shallow ground water and should be utilized during future monitoring
' • events to monitor shallow ground water conditions
• Continued operation of the on-site SVE and IAS remediation system, remediation progress
will be reevaluated on a semi-annual basis
' 6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based upon
analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic/hydrogeologic
conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number of
available data points (i a monitoring wells, ground water samples, soil-gas vapor samples) and
subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points No other warranty, expressed or
implied, is made as to the professional recommendations contained in this report
4
` 1 t
S
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
4
