l
,
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc
Nomellini Construction Co
' November 3, 1999
Page 2
1
' COMMENT
The data from these analyses indicate that concentrations of required bionutrients are generally
' below those which would be considered necessary to support microbiological growth and
biodegradative activities This is especially evident for levels of both reduced and oxidized
forms of nitrogen Although the pH of the tested waters is somewhat alkaline, it is likely that
' the low concentrations of bionutrients are responsible for the low general and selective
microbial cell recoveries The inability to recover any biodegradative (contaminant-specific)
microbes also suggests that the contamination may have been relatively recent and that
' insufficient time has passed in order to allow for development of a selective subpopulation
It is likely that conditions would improve if appropriate nutrient supplementation were provided
to these waters Based on the present data, natural bioattenuation of the contaminants
lieappears not to be occurring at any appreciable level and is unlikely to occur in the future
unless appropriate steps are taken to improve conditions to the levels necessary to support
microbial growth and biodegradative activity
' Should you have any questions concerning these results, please do not hesitate to contact me
' AKK ch
1
1
1
`1 +I
