= I
28 January,2006
AGE-NC Project No 95-0121
z „
' 2 2 FIRST QUARTER GROUND WATER MONITORING EVENT
A ground water monitoring event was conducted on 02 March 2005,ground water monitoring wells
MW-1 through MW-9 were monitored, vapor wells VW-1 through VW-9 (excluding VW-6), and
' u extraction well EW-1 were monitored., purged and sampled
2 2 1 Well Monitoring and Evacuation
' A Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in monitoring wells
MW-1 through MW-9, vapor wells VW-1 through VW-9 (excluding VW-6), and extraction well
EW-I from the top of the well casings to the nearest 0 01-foot Ground water elevations were
' calculated by subtracting the measured depth to ground water from the surveyed casing elevation
(Table 3)
' After the depth to ground water was measured, between 1 and 6 75 gallons of ground water (a
minimum of three casing water volumes per well)were evacuated(purged)from vapor wells VW-I
through VW-9(excluding VW-6 and VW-8), and 22 gallons of ground water were evacuated from
' S extraction well EW-1 utilizing a disposable polyethylene bailer VW-6 was unable to be located, the
volume of ground water in VW-8 was too little to be purged A thin layer(sheen)of free product was
' observed in VW-1,this was balled off prior to routine purging VW-4,VW-5,and VW-9 drew down
after purging I, 2, and 1 5 gallons of water, respectively, the wells were allowed to recharge prior
to sampling
' Temperature,pH,and conductivity were measured for stabilization at regular purge-volume intervals
using an Oakton water analyzer Field data and logs are Included in Appendix B Purged ground
' water was containerized In properly labeled, Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved
55-gallon drums and stored on-site in an area lacking general public access
2 2 2 Collection and Analysis of Ground Water Samples
Prior to sampling, the depth to ground water was re-measured to ensure that a minimum 80% well
volume recharge had been achieved Ground water samples were collected from wells EW-1, and
VW-2,VW-3,VW-4,VW-5,VW-7 and VW-9,'using a disposable polyethylene bailer The samples
were transferred into three 40-milliliter (ml) volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials, and into one
1-liter amber bottle The samples were logged on a chain of custody form, stored in a chilled
container, and transported to CTEL for analysis The ground water samples were analyzed for
. TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified,
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
