Artesian Environmental Consultants <br />r• 1'agc. 3 <br />The next phase of work for soil and groundwater clean-up is to evaluate and develop <br />the clean-up alternatives (feasibility testing), develop the remediation plan, acquire <br />proper permits, perform appropriate small-scale testing (if needed), and implement the <br />remediation plan An important and initial part of this phase of work is to determine <br />the soil and groundwater clean-up conditions and criteria that would be acceptable to <br />San Joaquin County Public Health Sery ice/Env Lion mental Health Division to obtain <br />site closure Once the closure conditions are defined, the iernediation plan can be <br />developed to meet the clean-up criteria <br />GROUNDWATER TREATMENT <br />As a result of the presence of free product and dissolved -phase gasoline on the <br />property, hydraulic control of the shallow gioundwater is necessary to prevent the <br />continued migration of the contaminates downgradrent and the eventual capture of <br />contaminated groundwater The majority of the groundwater plume control <br />techniques presently require the extraction of the impacted groundwater Generally, <br />this water needs to be treated to remove the hydrocarbons before it can be either <br />ppdischarged to the sanitary sewer or transported off-site <br />Some of the technologies include recovery wells to remove free product, recovery <br />wells to remove groundwater containing dissolved product, iecovery bench, <br />subsurface slurry wall barrier, and subsurface water injection bare rei Once the <br />recovered water is on the surface, various treatment options exist, including an <br />stripping, liquid phase carbon, advanced oxidation processes and bio -tanks In-situ <br />groundwater treatment can be performed using the following technologies natural <br />degradation, an spar ging (in-situ aeration), and augmented of accelet ated <br />bioremediation <br />3175 Kerner Boulevard Suite E • San Rafael CA 94901 • (415) 257 4801 FAX (415) 257- 4805 <br />
