PROCEDURES `
21 MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES
On 25 November 1997, the depth to ground water in each monitoring well was measured to the
nearest 0 01 foot utilizing a Solist water, level meter Ground water elevations fiom MW-1 through
MW-9 were then calculated by subtracting the measured depth to ground water from the surveyed -
casing elevations (Table 1) Ground water elevations with respect to mean sea level were plotted and
contoured on a scaled site map (Figure 3)
After water levels were measured, `approximately ten to fifteen gallons (minimum of three well '
volumes per well) of water were purged from wells MW-1 through MW-9 utilizing a two-stage
submersible pump Temperature, pH and conductivity were measured at regular intervals from each
well using an ICM Model 52200 water analyzer,to monitor for stabilization of these characteristics _
during purging Stabilization data and field logs are included with Appendix A Purged ground water
was containerized in 55-gallon drums and stored on-site in an area lacking general public access
5 1 A
22 GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION
, 1
1
The ground water levels in monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-9 were allowed to recover for a
minimum of one'hour prior to sample collection ,Ground water samples were collected utilizing
disposable polyethylene bailers and new nylon rope. Sufficient ground water sample was collected
f
i t
Advanced CcoEnvironmental,Inc.
5
- h
