A custody seal may be placed on the sample in such a way that any attempt to rtamper with the sample is easily visible. B-2.4 Sample Handling After labeling, the sample is immediately stored in an iced cooler for transport to Kleinfeldet's office sample control or to the analytical laboratory. A Kleinfelder chain-of-custody fonn accompanies the cooler. The chain-of-custody form includes Kleinfelders name, address and telephone number, the employee number of the individual who performed the sampling, the sample numbers, the date and time the samples were collected, the number of containers each sample occupies the sample matrix (soil or water) and the analyses for which the samples are being submitted, if any. The chain-of-custody form is signed by each person who handles the samples, including all Kleinfelder employees and the receiving employee of office sample control or the analytical laboratory when the samples are delivered. B-2.5 Decontamination of Equipment To reduce the potential for cross-contamination, augers and associated equipment are steam cleaned prior to drilling each boring. In addition, sampling equipment is cleaned with a trisodium- phosphate wash and rinsed with distilled water prior to collecting each soil sample. B-2.6 Soil Cutting Disposal Drill cuttings will be placed in 55-gallon drums or wrapped in plastic or spread around the boring and left on site fur disposal by the site owner. If requested, Kleinfelder can coordinate disposal of soil and water after analytical results are available.
