MTBE has been detected only in MW-5, that well was placed by the owners of the site to
the east, (Nomelhni) for the purpose of locating the limits of a plume caused by leaking
UST's at that location
Chloronated solvents have been identified in MW-4 (methylene chloride,) MW-7
(Trichloroethene) MW-8 (1,1-Dichloroethene & vinyl chloride,) and MW-9 (1,2-
Dichloroethane )
TABLE A summarizes the results of the laboratory analyses of water samples taken since
the start of monitoring operations Levels of BTEX are very high in MW-5 & MW-9, those
two wells are within the plumes originating to the east & west of the property MW-1,
MW-3, & MW-4 have recorded varying levels of BTEX, those wells are within the
boundenes of the two plumes MW-2, MW-6, & MW-7 are at the edge of, or outside the
contaminated areas Levels of TPH as gasoline have been measured at very high
concentrations in both MW-5 &MW-9, it has been either ND or at varying low levels in the
other wells TPH as diesel has been measured only in MW-4, which is located close to the
site of the removed diesel UST's MTBE has been detected only in MW-5 Chloronated
solvents have been detected in MW-4, MW-7, MW-8, & MW-9, see TABLE A for
compounds identified
DISCUSSION OF RESULTS TO DATE FROM MONITORING WELLS:
The work performed to date has verified the existence of two gasoline contaminated plumes
wluch originate off the property, one at 1045 W Charter Way (Nomellim) & one at 1245
W Charter Way (JM Equipment ) Although data to date is not conclusive, it is possible
that the two plumes have commingled in the area of the shop building Those two plumes
have impacted the groundwater beneath MW-1, MW-3, MW-4, MW-5, MW-8, & MW-9
MW-2, MW-6, & MW-7 appear to be outside the areas of contamination
TPH as diesel has only been detected in MW-4, that well is located close to the site of the
removed diesel UST's which revealed minor amounts of soil contamintion That well is
within the plume originating at the Nomellini site to the east, and any attempt at cleanup is
not feasible at this time
Chloronated solvents (EPA 8010) have been detected in four wells No consistent pattern
has yet emerged to determine the source or sources of those compounds Further analysis
may assist in resolving that issue
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Based upon the data obtained to date, we plan to implement the following changes in our
field procedures
2
