I checked on GeoTracker and we can change the status, however, I noted that the
definition for"Remediation" is as follows:
4. Open — Remediation
An approved remedy or remedies has/have been selected for the impacted media at
the site and the responsible party (RP) is implementing one or more remedy under an
approved cleanup plan for the site.
Note that the definition says that the remediation method has been selected, approved, and is currently being
implemented by the RP.As such, the only site that currently qualifies for that status is the Steve and Genes
Service site. We'll review all four sites' status as verification monitoring is not correct for any.Again, thanks for
bringing this to my attention.
Nuel
From: Jenny Weese [mailto:JennyW@gtienv.com]
Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 2010 2:44 PM
To: Nuel Henderson [EH]
Cc: Tamorah Bryant; Ray Kablanow
Subject: Geotracker and SJ Fund Sites
Hi,
We are preparing for the upcoming "new business model"that the Fund will release within the next 2
months. It is our understanding that an allotment of money will be budgeted to each open site based on
the status that is noted in Geotracker.
We reviewed the status of our sites in Geotracker and have a few questions.
1. As the Regulator, are you the department that changes the status in Geotracker?
2. We noticed that several sites in San Joaquin are potentially incorrect and are wondering if they
can be changed ASAP to reflect the correct status? This is especially pertinent based on the
assumption that the amount budgeted to the site will be directly related to the status. For
example, we assume the sites will get a higher budget if it is in remediation and less if the status
is verification monitoring.
3. The sites we believe are inaccurate are:
a. Former Georges Service,Tracy—current status is Verification Monitoring.Think it
should be Remediation due to pilot test work, etc.
b. JM Equipment, LOP 9401, Stockton—current status is Verification Monitoring.Think it
should be Remediation due to current feasibility study report and proposed remediation
discussions.
9/28/2010
