J.M. Equipment 0 -2 - 8 September 2005
1245 W. Charter Way; Stockton;
has migrated beyond the influence of the treatment system. The BST does not include this
test.
c. The sample holding time for Cr6+EPA method 7196A is 6 to 24 hours. By the time the
total chromium results are available, the samples would be out of holding time for Cr6+ '
analysis, and the subsequent analytical results would be flagged as such by laboratory.
2. The Workplan does not state that metals will be analyzed during the treatment phase of the BST,only
that "...Post treatment metals concentrations will be measured in filtered groundwater at the end of the
treatment by EPA method 6010... ". The rationale for not doing metals and general minerals analyses
during the treatment phase of the BST is missing. Previous BSTs have conducted metals and general
minerals analyses during the treatment phase, and have shown production of Cr6+ and/or bromate. As
stated in my Comment lb above, if water quality is impacted by the treatment, then degradation rates need
to be demonstrated as a part of the BST. Please clarify/add these analyses to the BST.
The Workplan is tentatively approved,pending receipt of adequate responses to my comments. Please
contact me at (9911,6) 464-4615 if you have any questions regarding this matter.
AMES L. L.
