The <br /> samples will be homogenized to provide adequate mixing. <br /> sampled from the area o Soils and groundwater will be <br /> contamination, but will also be spiked with MTBE gasoline to ensure <br /> that adequate BTEX, TP and MTBE mass was present to observe the desired reactions The <br /> ' samples will be prepared as follows: <br /> • Blank— Untreated Sample <br /> ' - 200 g soil. <br /> - 400 ml groundwater. <br /> - 1000 ml Erlenmeyer Flask. <br /> 200 pL of M BE-gasoline sample (shaken vigorously into water and soil after <br /> addition). <br /> Sample will be allowed to equilibrate for 24 hours. <br /> Additional blank will be generated for the hydrogen peroxide treated sample, where <br /> the equivalent volume of deionized water will be added in place of the hydrogen <br /> peroxide. <br /> • Air Sparged Sam e <br /> ' _ 200 g soil <br /> 400 ml groundwater. <br /> - 1000 ml Erlenmeyer Flask. <br /> ' - 200 pL of MTM-gasoline sample (shaken vigorously into water and soil after <br /> addition). <br /> - Sample will be allowed to equilibrate for 24 hours. <br /> - Sample will be treated with air for 4.5 hours at a rate of 5 standard cubic feet per <br /> hour (scfh) or approximately 2.5 liters per minute (Ipm). <br /> ' • Ozone Sparged Saj nple <br /> - 200 g soil. <br /> - 400 ml groundw ter. <br /> 1000 ml Erlenme yer Flask. <br /> 200 pL of oil sarr pie (shake vigorously into water and soil after addition. <br /> - Sample will be al owed to equilibrate for 24 hours. <br /> ' - Sample will be treated with ozone for 4.5 hours at 0.20 lbs of ozone per day at a rate <br /> of 5 scfh or apprc ximately 2.5 Ipm. <br /> ' • Ozone Sparged with Hydrogen Peroxide Sample <br /> - 200 g soil. <br /> ' _ 400 ml groundwa er. <br /> 1000 ml Erlenmeyer Flask. <br /> - 200 pL of oil sample (shake vigorously into water and soil after addition. <br /> - Sample will be allowed to equilibrate for 24 hours. <br /> ' 2 <br />
