Equipment Company <br />' 1245 West Charter Way <br /> Stockton, California <br />' Project No 507 3 <br /> September 20, 2002 <br /> 1 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> J M Equipment Company received a letter on November 1, 1996 from Mr Joel Weiss of <br />' the California Regional Water Quality Control Board - Central Valley Region The letter <br /> referenced a report prepared by William J Hunter & Associates for Independent trucking <br /> Facility located east of J M Equipment at 1145 West Charter Way, Stockton, CA This <br /> report dated October 21, 1996, titled Interim Report Covering Soil and Groundwater <br /> Investigation, included information from MW-9, a groundwater monitoring well placed on <br /> J M Equipment property for the purposes of defining the groundwater plume in an <br /> rupgradient direction—see Figures 1 & 2 <br /> Historical research was performed to determine possible sources of the gasoline range <br /> ' petroleum hydrocarbons found in MW-9 It was discovered that years ago this facility <br /> contained two underground storage tanks (UST's) and two aboveground fuel storage tanks <br /> (AST's) These tanks contained both gasoline and diesel The preliminary data from MW-9 -- <br /> suggests that only the gasoline tanks released fuel '7 4sr, � <br />' Facility photographs document that these tanks were located near the southeast corner of the <br /> Hesston Shop County assessor records show that this shop was constructed in 1988 and to <br /> the best of facility employees' recollection, the UST's were removed in the early 1980's <br /> For a period of several years J M Equipment used Just AST's The UST's were in the size <br /> range of 500 to 1,000 gallons and the AST's appear to be less then 500 gallons each <br /> Prior to the early 1970's Crandle operated a John Deere facility on this property In the <br /> early 1970's Quimby purchased the property from Crandle and operated J M Equipment <br /> i <br />
