This report presents the results of our investigation.
The approximate location of the site is shown on the attached Plate 1, Vicinity Map. Monitor well
locations are shown with respect to former tank and earlier sampling locations on Plate 2, Site Plan.
Logs of the monitor well borings are shown together with well construction details on Plates 3
through 6. Summary chemical data are presented on Tables 1 and 2. Laboratory data reports are
presented in the Appendix.
BACKGROUND
In 1987 an approximate 1000-gallon waste oil and a 12,000-gallon diesel tank were removed from
the site. A field sketch noted in the County (SJCEMD) file generally shows the tanks formerly
located as shown on the attached Plate 2. Limited available test data indicate that volatile aromatic
(BTEX) compounds were detected in soil from beneath the south end of the diesel tank, and that
low-level polychlorinated biphenyls were reported in the soil sample from beneath the waste-oil
tank. The excavations have been backfilled and concrete flatwork is now present at each of the
former tank locations as approximately shown on Plate 2.
In October 1999 Ramcon was retained to perform soil and water sampling at the six locations shown on
Plate 2. The summary data table from the described investigation is attached at the end of the Appendix
for convenience. The test data indicated that none of the soil samples contained measurable petroleum
hydrocarbons with the exception of Sample B-2-3 which revealed a trace of oil at a concentration of 12
parts-per-million(ppm). Metals were detected in the soil samples at very low concentrations, below
Ramco n H:\WPDATA\1303-2-Andenson\REPORTS\SumReport.wpd Page 1
