Aerosol Can Disposal Procedure
Aerosol Cans are to be treated as a Hazardous waste. The procedure for
disposal of aerosol cans is that they may be placed in common trash if they
meet the following criteria.
1. The cans are emptied of propellant
2. The cans are emptied of paint.
Aerosol cans may only be emptied through normal use practices. Meaning a
can is to be considered empty if both I & 2 apply while touching up parts as
normal Standard Operating Procedure.
Cans may not be purposely emptied for the sole reason of emptying a can.
Any cans that are malfunctioning or are no longer of use and still contain i
& 2 must be set aside to be disposed of using either Universal or Hazardous
waste procedures, whichever is applicable.
THIS DIRECTIVE IS TO BE IN EFFECT IMMEDIATELY.
