c. Arrange with the COR for the Environmental Office to perform a transportation inspection and <br /> certify/sign the uniform hazardous waste manifest at the time of shipment. <br /> d. Agree that any contract shall not be considered complete until all hazardous waste has been <br /> disposed of in accordance with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations and the terms the <br /> contract. <br /> 7. Dust Control/PM10: Airborne particulates,including dust particles, from construction activities and <br /> processing and preparation of materials shall be controlled at all times, including weekends, holidays, <br /> and hours when work is not in progress. The contractor shall maintain all excavations,stockpiles,haul <br /> roads, permanent and temporary access roads, plant sites, disposal sites, borrow areas, and all other <br /> work areas free from airborne dust which would cause a hazard or nuisance. <br /> 8. Spill Notification: Any spills or releases of hazardous material or waste resulting from the contractors' <br /> performance shall be reported immediately to Central Dispatch by calling 911. The contractor is <br /> responsible for all cleanup costs. The Contracting Officer may require the contractor to arrange for <br /> cleanup action by qualified contractor personnel of subcontractors. Cleanup must be to the satisfaction <br /> of the DDJC Environmental Protection Office and meet Federal, State and Local requirements. <br /> 9. Project Storage of Hazardous Materials: The contractor shall notify the COR prior to the on-site <br /> storage of any hazardous material (as defined by Title 49, Section 171.8 of the Code of Federal <br /> Regulations). Notification shall include the quantity, location and a copy of the Safety Data Sheet <br /> (SDS). <br /> 10. Refuse Disposal: The use of government dumpsters for disposal of contractor generated non- <br /> hazardous waste and refuse (i.e. wood, plastic, etc.) is prohibited. The contractor shall provide <br /> containers for disposal of non-hazardous waste and refuse generated as a result of the performance of <br /> work. <br /> 11. Archaeological Findings During Construction: There are no known archaeological remains noted <br /> at the Depot at this time. Should any skeletons,artifacts or other archaeological remains be uncovered, <br /> the contractor shall immediately stop work and contact the Contracting Officer's Representative(COR) <br /> for further instructions. <br /> 12. Discovery of Unidentified Materials or Objects: The Tracy Site have been an active military support <br /> base since World War II. Thus, the potential exists for the discovery of hazardous materials, such as <br /> explosives, chemical (gas) weapons and toxic contaminants, during excavation and demolition <br /> operations. The following procedure is applicable: <br /> a. Any suspect material found during construction activities shall be assumed hazardous. <br /> Excavated soils with unusual appearance or odor shall be considered suspect. <br /> b. Site workers shall immediately secure in a safe condition any equipment being operated and <br /> leave the area of the material or object. Do not approach, examine or move the material or <br /> obj ect. <br /> c. The discovery shall be reported immediately to the Depot Fire Department by calling 911. <br /> 13. Environmental Management System (EMS): Contractors are to adhere to the EMS policy. <br /> Responsible for owning their actions and performing them in an environmentally acceptable manner. <br /> Preventing pollution and complying with all applicable environmental policies,and legal regulations at <br /> Defense Distribution Depot San Joaquin.
