You were concerned that our proposed remedial action
plan (RAP) for the site, outlined in our correspondence dated 30 May 1988, did not
address the high hydrocarbon concentration found in a saturated soil sample collected 20.7
ft below grade in boring B-2, near the southwestern corner of the excavation. Since this
sample occurs below the water table, and the soil in the vicinity of the sample could
therefore be a source for hydrocarbons in ground water, you requested that we submit an
amended workplan to:
1) Pl;zue vtvvu6cd iuvuituiiny, wc11 Iv[Vr'-4 uluset to thu auu«c: of uuu(auiiiintivii.
2) Better define how the tank pit excavation will accommodate removal of
contaminated soil above and below the water table (including the vicinity of
the high-concentration boring B-2 sample).
3) Discuss the occurrence of the hydrocarbons in the 20.7 ft sample from boring
13-2.
A Division o/A,uaTierra A_sociales lrr.orpora(rd
