Approximatel bic yards of
soil and pea gravel were generated during excavation or underground
storage tanks. The excavated materials has been treated by aeration on-site.
According to the report, the treated material now contains only low levels of
total fuel hydrocarbons (ND to 23 ppm) , and very low concentrations of metals
(apparently background :levels). Bioassay testing indicates the material is
not hazardous or toxic. The operator has requested permission to redistribute
the treated soil and pea gravel on-site.
The primary concern with proposed redistribution of the treated soil is
whether the hydrocarbon constituents have been effectively removed. Based on
the information provided, the hydrocarbon concentrations appear to have been
reduced to levels which should not pose a significant threat to water quality.
Therefore, we do not object to the proposed redistribution of this material .
If you have any questions, please call meat (916) 361-5731.
THOMAS D.
