Please <br /> refer to the Tri Regional Staff Recommendations for the specific procedures, <br /> minimum information and report formats necessary to enable the San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division and Regional <br /> Water Quality Control Board to conduct a speedy review. The proposed work at <br /> the above referenced facility may commence providing the following comments <br /> are addressed in the Preliminary Report or Soils Remediation Plant <br /> 1. We recommend that the additional soil boring and monitoring well <br /> construction plan be amended to include continuous core drilling for at <br /> least one (1) soil boring. A detailed description of the sampling <br /> procedure to be used during continuous core logging should be included <br /> in the Preliminary Report or Soils Remediation Plan. <br /> 2. MW-4 appears to be within 10 feet and down gradient of the contamination <br /> source, however this should be specifically stated in the PR or SRP. <br /> 3. The screened portion of MW-4 shall be placed at appropriate depths to <br /> allow for seasonal groundwater fluctuation. <br /> 4. All water and soil samples submitted to the laboratory must be analyzed <br /> for the constituents and by the methods stated in the Tri-Regional Staff <br /> Recommendations,Table 2, Appendix A. <br /> 5. In attachment C it is stated that, "The outside diameter (OD) of the <br /> borehole will be a minimum of two inches larger than the 4-inch well <br /> screen. " The inner diameter (I.D. ) of the hollow stem auger must be a <br /> minimum of two inches larger than the casing O.D. to allow proper <br /> placement of the filter pack. <br /> 6. The samplers must be rinsed between samples with the appropriate <br /> substance to insure that cross contamination does not occur. <br /> 7. To determine the "zero line" of soil contamination it is recommended <br /> that the bottom borehole sample and appropriate samples screened by the <br /> P. I.D. meter be analyzed by a state certified laboratory. <br /> 8.
