Meat Processing Department
1111 Navy Drive, Stockton, CA 95204
Dear Sir,
My firm, Precision Industries Inc. , has been engaged for the
purpose of removing four 12,000 gallon underground storage tanks
at the above named facility.
All four tanks were new when installed and have contained
diesel fuel only since that time.
In the course of our work we have found that one tank, tank
#3, has been subject to ground water 1 ntrusion. It is our
assumption that the water has entered •the vessel through a break
in the tank wall .
In the process of pumping tank #3 free of diesel after
discovering the leak, some water was inadvertently added to tank
-#4: --
Approximately 12,000 gallons of water is present in both
tanks combined. We propose that the water be treated with a
water oil separator system and an activated charcoal bed
manufactured by Nelson Franklin Company. This proceedure will
rend the water free of- hydrocarbons above 3 parts per million.
- -— To verify hydrocarbon levels, the water will be held in
above ground tanks on site with samples taken for analysis of
total hydrocarbons. Weiss Associates, a geotechnical firm, will
be responsible for taking samples and chain of custody. Brown
and Caldwell , a state certified water lab, will perform the
analysis.
The results of sampling will be submitted to the director of
utilities before the water can be released into the sanitary
2191 NAVY DR.,STOCKTON,CALIFORNIA 95206 • 209/462-991'1 • 300/332-5900
