A site location map (Figure 1) and site vicinity map (Figure 2) are
attached. Three remaining monitoring wells MW-4, MW-5 and MW-6 were
abandoned as part of site closure activities. The Regional Water Quality Control
Board (RWQCB) and the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(SJCEHD) concurred that no further action is required with respect to the former
diesel fuel release at the Property, and on January 9, 2003 the RWQCB issued a
No Further Action letter for the Property. GeoTrans understands a site closure
letter will be forthcoming from the SJCEHD.
A summary of the well abandonment work is presented below.
Pre-Field Activities
Prior to completing the well abandonment work, GeoTrans obtained the
appropriate well abandonment permits from the SJCEHD. Two permits were
required, as the wells were located on two separate parcels. Copies of the well
permits are included as Attachment 1. GeoTrans also obtained a City of
Stockton encroachment permit for abandoning well MW-6, which was located j
along the fog line on the south side of Navy Drive. A copy of the encroachment
permit is included as Attachment 2. Underground Service Alert (USA) was
notified of the pending well abandonment work 48 hours prior to the fieldwork.
