d _
ps
Julian MunozASStxu7F5 4P10 June 1987 8 ►vErss
BTX. An OVA will be used to detect the presence or absence of VOCs in the
soil samples and help determine which saturated sail samples will be
analyzed. If the OVA detects hydrocarbons in unsaturated soil, the SJLHD may
require analysis of soil samples from the interval where the positive readings
were noted. If this is necessary, WA will provide a cost estimate for the
additional analysis.
Four-inch diameter ground water monitoring wells will be installed in the
three boreholes. Wells will be screened at least 5 ft above the water table
to allow for seasonal water table fluctuations. Appropriate disposal of drill
cuttings will be determined by analysis of soil samples collected during
drilling. For purposes of estimating costs, the attached budget assumes the
cuttings are non-hazardous. If analysis Of the borehole samples indicates
that the cuttit,gs are a hazardous waste, WA will prepare a cost estimate for
nppropriate disposal.
TASK 2 - WELL DEVELOPMENT, SA14PLING AND CHEMICAL ANALYSIS
The monitoring wells will be developed by airlift evacuation with
development water directed to a portable Baker tank temporarily stored
r on-site. After development, one water sample will be collected from each well
and from the Baker tank. The samples will be refrigerated And delivered to an
analytinal laboratory under chain-of-custody procedures_ The ground water and
develDpment water samples will be analyzed by GC/FID/photo ionization
detection (PID) for TRIC and BTX. The development water will be disposed of
appropriately depending on analytic results.
Costs for potential disposal of the development water or drill cuttings
as a hazardous waste are not included in this proposal. 1
e
•
_... arwmw1e+meei.'ra7tii7ffiR'ellr-
