STOCKPILE SOIL SAMPLING <br /> Rim� SOP-5 <br /> Soil samples from soil stockpiles are collected in thin-walled,4-inch long by 2-inch outside diameter brass <br /> tubes The sampling protocol for stockpile sampluig is determined by the dimensions of the soil pile An average <br /> of one soil sample per ten cubic yards is collected The samples are composited prior to chemical analysis The <br /> number of samples in a composite depends on the amount of cubic yards of soil Typically,composites are made <br /> up of a mini um of two samples, and range up to a maximum of four samples <br /> ' The sampling tools used are hand driven sampling devices that maintain the physical integrity of the <br /> �{ samples while minimizmg volatilization Upon removal from the sampling device, the tubes are immediately <br /> r trimmed and sealed with aluminum foil and plastic end caps They are then hermetically sealed with duct tape <br /> labeled, and refrigerated until delivery, under chain-of-custody, to the laboratory <br /> �3 <br /> w a <br /> r <br /> a � <br /> S <br />
