Approximately 1200 cubic yards of
soil and pea gravel were generated during excavat)on of former underground
storage tanks. The excavated materials has been treated by aeration on-site
According to the report, the treated material now contains only low levels of
total fuel hydrocarbons (NI) to 23 ppm) , and very low concentrations of metals
(apparently background levels) . Bioassay testing indicates the material 15
not hazardous or toxic. The operator has requested permission to redistribute
the treated poll dvid pea gravel on-site.
The primary Concern with proposed redistribution of the treated soil is
whether the hydrocarbon constituents have been effectively removed. Based on
the information provided, the hydrocarbon concentrations appear to have been
reduced to levels which should not pose a significant threat to water quality.
Therefore, we do not object to the proposed redistribution of this material .
Ifou have any y questions, please call ane at (916) 351-5731 .
(NOMAS D.
