Box 2009
Stockton CA 95201
SAFEWAY MEAT PACKING FACILITY, 1111 NAVY DRIVE, STOCKTON REDISTRIBUTION OF
TREATED SOIL AND PEA GRAVEL
We have reviewed the 28 November 1989 letter/report submitted key Western
Geologic Resources , Inc. , for this site. Approximately 1200 cubic yards of
soil and pea gravel were generated during excavation of former underground
storage tanks. The excavated materials has been treated by aeration on-site.
According to the report, the treated material now contains only low levels of
total tuel hydrocarbons (NO to 23 ppm) , and very low concentrations of metals
(apparently background )evels) . bioassay testing indicates the material 15
not hazardous or toxic. The operator has requested permission to redistribute
the treated suil died pea gravel on-site.
The primary concern with proposed redistribution of the treated soil is
whether the hydrocarbon constituents have been effectively removed. Based on
the information provided , the hydrocarbon Concentrations appear to have been
reduced to levels which should not pose a significant threat to water quality.
Therefore, we do not object to the proposed redistribution of this material
If you have any questions, please call sne at (916) 361-5731. .
WMAS 0.
