' TERN GEOLOGIC RESOURCES , INC <br /> EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br /> Western Geologic Resources, Inc GR conducted a subsurface investigation near the <br /> � ) g <br /> location of former underground fuel storage tanks on the south side the Safeway Meat Packing Plant, <br /> 1111 Navy Drive in Stockton, Cahfornsa, m September and October 1989 Six boreholes were drilled <br /> from whych soil samples were collected for chemical analysis Groundwater was observed at 26 8 feet <br /> (ft) below grade One of the boreholes was completed as a 4-inch diameter groundwater monitor well, <br /> MW-4 Groundwater samples from well MW-4 and wells MW-1 through P ugh MW-3, installed by another <br /> consultant, were collected on 3 October 1989 <br /> I <br /> Total purgeable petroleum hydrocarbons (TPPH), characterized as diesel #2, were detected <br /> � onlym the soil samples from 25 ft to 25 5 ft below <br /> P grade in borings B-11, B-14, and B-15, located on <br /> y the west and south side of the former location of the underground tanks, at 28 ppm, 120 ppm, and 2400 <br /> ppm, respectively Aromatic hydrocarbons including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes <br /> (BTEX) were not detected in most of the soil samples analyzed However, BTEX concentrations of <br /> 0 007 ppm or less were detected m samples from 15 5 ft below grade in boring B-14, from 25 5 ft and <br />' 36 5 ft below grade m boring B-10 (MW-4), and 15 3 ft below grade in boring B-11 <br /> Groundwater samples collected from all four monitor wells contained no detectable <br /> ` concentrations of TPPH or BTEX <br /> Groundwater flow beneath the site on 3 October 1989 was in an east-southeast direction at a <br /> very shallow gradient of 0 1% <br /> A survey of Cahforma Department of Water Resource's well logs identified ten registered wells <br /> - within a one-half mile radius of the site and three additional wells possibly within one-half mile of the <br /> site None of these wells are known to occur within 1,000 ft of the site <br /> his 076R1DE9 WP <br /> f i <br /> - I� <br />
