Project No. 014-95262
Page No. 4
The WCD map also indicates that the lateral component of groundwater flow is generally in a east-
northeast direction in the vicinity of the subject site. Review of the WCD maps from previous years
indicate that groundwater flow direction has remained essentially unchanged during recent years. The most
recent groundwater elevation data from on-site monitoring wells also suggests an easterly flow direction.
However, numerous factors influence the fluctuation of groundwater level and evaluation of such factors
is beyond the scope of this investigation.
PURPOSE OF INVESTIGATION
The purpose of the our proposed services is to assess the presence and concentration of certain
constituents in soil and/or groundwater beneath the site as it relates to the former military use and, more
recently, to meat processing and associated wastewater treatment activities at the subject site. The
investigation is being conducted for real estate transaction due diligence purposes, and is not being
conducted to meet the requirements of any regulatory agency.
SCOPE OF THE INVESTIGATION
The proposed investigation will include the collection of up to nine Hydropunch'II groundwater
samples obtained by direct push methods using a cone penetration testing (CPT) rig. The purpose of these
samples is to assess the presence and distribution of certain constituents of concern in groundwater resulting
from both aereally extensive and local point sources. At selected Hydropunch ' and other locations, soil
borings will also be advanced to the capillary zone by an auger drilling rig to collect soil samples for
analysis. In addition to the deeper boreholes, hand auger borings will be advanced at selected locations
' to sample soils in the vicinity of sumps, separators, etc., adjacent to the former boiler diesel fuel supply
pipeline, and in areas used previously to stockpile spoils from the underground tank excavation.
METHODOLOGY
In order to accomplish the goals established in the Purpose and Scope of the Investigation sections
of this work plan, the following methods will be employed:
KRAZAN&ASSOCIATES, INC.
Offices Serving the Western United States
95262.WP
