HAZARD EVALUATION <br /> Potential chemical hazards: None Anticipated <br /> Potential hazards anticipated: <br /> Hazard Heat exhaustion, tripping, equipment hazards,falls <br /> Hazard Control As appropriate - one or more of the following: Hard-hats, safety <br /> glasses, ear plugs, and sturdy shoes will be worn when working <br /> within the work zone. Work zone will be kept in an orderly fashion <br /> to minimize tripping hazards. Plenty of fluid will be kept on-site to <br /> minimize the threat of heat exhaustion. <br /> IV. SITE CONTROL <br /> Description of Work Zone and Boundaries(Site Map Attached) <br /> All sampling and decontamination activities will be performed within the general <br /> study area. <br /> Standard Operating Procedures <br /> A. Sampling procedures: Sampling will be conducted in accordance with standard <br /> environmental protocol. <br /> B. Excavations: Not anticipated. <br /> C. Permit-required Confined Spaces: None. <br /> D. Heat Stress: Heat stress is often the greatest site hazard. At temperatures above <br /> 70 degrees F., especially if PPE is used, appropriate cooling equipment, cooled <br /> drinking fluids, and frequent breaks will be provided. Personnel will make every <br /> effort to prevent and treat heat stress in accordance with first aid training. <br /> E. Material Safety Data Sheets: No hazardous chemical use is anticipated. <br /> F. All personnel arriving at, or departing from,the site will verbally inform the <br /> Environmental Specialist on-site. All activities on site must be cleared through the <br /> Principal or Staff Geologist. <br /> G. Normal and Emergency Communications: A cellular phone will be present on- <br /> site. <br /> H. If adverse weather is possible, monitor a local radio broadcast station or other <br /> service to stay abreast of the weather. <br /> i. All operations and equipment will comply with OSHA Regulations 29 CFR <br /> 1910.120 and other applicable elements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926. Before <br /> site operations begin, all employees involved in these operations will have read <br /> and understood this Site Safety Plan. <br /> J. Training and medical monitoring:All routine site personnel are required 40-hour <br /> HAZWOPPER training and 8-hour annual refresher training and medical <br /> monitoring. Employees with 24-hour training may perform specific tasks, <br />
