A:1 NVIRON 3TAI,'
The proposed grab ground-water,-sampling locations' -1, HP-2 and HP-3 shown in Figure 1 are
-.contingent upon access limitations (i.e., site features, u ilities) and final locations may be moved
to the closest accessible location. Prior to conducting drilling activities, boring permits will be
obtained from the SJCEHD, and surveys of undefgrow,d utilities will be conducted by
Underground Service Alert (_USA) and-by a private uti ity locating company to clear the boring .
locations for drilling-access. As required by the Occu' ational Health and Safety Administration'
(OSHA) 29 CFR 1910.12b,.Hazardous Waste.Operatic ns and Emergency Responses, a site
'Health'and Safety Plan (HSP) will be prepared for.use while conducting'proposed field sampling
activities. The HSP will be read and approved by the ure Project Manager, a Quality
Assurance Reviewer, arid'the On-site Safety Officers o all subcontractors working at the Site.
A CPT drilling rig will be used to drill a pilot boring tc collect geologic information and to .I
advance a ground-water sampling device to.collect gro d-water samples from the target
sampling depth intervals. The CPT sampling will be conducted by Oregg Drilling and Testing,
Inc. using their,CP.T rig and'support.equipment. The QPT rig uses hydraulic direct push
equipment to advance the cone penetrometer in the boring and collect soil physical parameters
that allow interpretation of subsurface soil stratigraphy, Following completion of the CPT
sounding and interpretation of soil stratigraphic conditions, a ground-water sampling device.will
be advanced in.adjacerit.CPT'borings to.collect ground water samples at the specified target
- -depth intervals. The ground=water sampling device consists of a disposable tip and stainless steel
inlet screen attached to hollow, push rods. The.ground ater sample is collected in a bailer
lowered through the push rods.to the inlet screen section of the sampling device. In the.event
that'a ground-water sample cannot be collected from-the selected depth interval in the CPT
boring due to the presence of low permeability sediments, attempts will be made to collect a
ground-water sample from the closest depth to the, targ t sampling, depth that yields a water
' sample for collection.,The ground-water sample will b poured from the bailer into appropriate
laboratory-supplied sample containers, then placed'in a chilled cooler immediately after
collection for transport"to the laboratory under standar chain-of-custody protocol: The CPT j
"borehole will be sealed with a bentonite-grout-mix thr ugh PVC tremie pipe, and the ground ,
surface-restored using replacementmaterials (i.e., asph -lt patch, concrete). All down hole ; H
drilling and sampling equipment will be'cleaned nor, o use at:each drilling location to revent-
g p gp g p ,
potential cross=contamination between locations. All viork will be performed under the direction
of a'California Certified Hydrogeologist.
The ground-water samples will be submitted to a Calif rnia state_certified laboratory for TPH
i
analysis characterized,as gasoline(EPA Method 8015) BTEX compounds (EPA Method 8020)
and fuel oxygenates, including MTBE (EPA Method 8 60B). ,
Reporting and Schedule .
Following completion of confirmation groundwater s pling and quarterly monitoring
activities,Azure will submit a report of ground-waters pling results to the SJCEHD. The
report will include the following:
2
