Delta Environmental Consultant , Inc. (Delta) provides herein, five
copies of the Site Baseline Assessment Report.
Six soil borings were advanced across the West ettleman Lane, Lodi Site and three
were converted to monitoring wells. Three soil samples collected from monitoring well
MW-1 boring displayed minor concentrations (6.0 to 12.0 mg/Kg) of total petroleum
hydrocarbon as diesel fuel (TPHd) at depths of 30 to 45 feet below ground surface. No
other constituents were identified in any soil sample analyses. Groundwater samples
collected displayed the following constituents:
♦ TPHd in all three wells below generally acc pted action level of 100 ug/L,
♦ MTBE in all three wells, two below actionlevel of 13 ug/L and in MW-1 at 410
& 630 ug/L,
♦ Toluene at 0.83 ug/L in one sample from M -1, and
♦ TAME at 2.6 and 3.6 ug/L in two samples fr m MW-1.
Discussions with San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department indicated that
the MTBE impacts in MW-1 may be from vapor re eases during tank filling and may not
represent liquid fuel releases to the subsurface. Tlicrefore, with San Joaquin guidance,
Delta and Tesoro recommend that MWA be plugged and abandoned and another, more
representative monitoring well be installed 20 to 50 feet further away from the UST
basin. Tesoro intends to replace MW-1 and resamp a all three on-site wells in the second
quarter to complete the baseline for this site.
