IL
PURPOSE AND OPERATIONS SPECIFICATIONS
FOR "ALTERNATIVE DISCHARGE POINTS"
The purpose of the secondary discharge point is. to provide a recharge area
beyond the perimeter of the contamination zone and act as a hydro-seal. The
proposed secondary discharge point shall also share the volume of cleaned
water required. to achieve an acceptable radius of influences to control the
plume.
In addition, a third discharge point shall be constructed in the underground
storage tank backfill where the leak originated. The clew water discharged
to this area shall free the soil-bound fuel and allow it to transport to the
recovery well for removal.
The operation spedifications of the primary, secondary and third discharge
points are provided below:
Primary (Percolation Pond) : 1,OCO ft2 minimum area to be used
+ 483 gph volume sof cleaned water
possible to discbarge f
Secondary (Perimeter-Hydro-Seal) ; . 400 ft2 minimum area to be used
+ 1 3 gph volume of cleaned water
possible to disdba.rge
Third (Storage Tank Backfill) : 1,60 ft2 minimum area to be used
+ 7 3 gph volume of cleaned water
po sible to dscarg
The pump rate needed to achieve an acceptable radius of Influence is approximately
20 gpm or 1,200 gph. . The percolation rate f the soils in the area is approxi---
mately 0.483 gallons per ft2 per hour.
------------- a
i
f
. i
