i
DEFINITION OF THE LA URAL AND
VERTICAL EXTENT OF COMMINATION
The lateral extent of soil contamination is zonfined within. a radius of
approximately 120 ft. from the .leak source. This conclusion is based on
the results of the laboratory analysis and field screening of samples taken
during the drill process. The vertical exte t of soil contamination from
surface to ground water is confined to an ar a immediately surrounding the
storage tanks. However, some evidence of soil contaminatimn exists from
the 35 ft, level to ground water with the 12D ft. radius.
The results of the laboratory analysis of the ground water indicates that
some contamination extends beyond the perimeter monitoring wells. However,
subsequent analysis results have shown the concentrations of soluable
hydrocarbons in the ground water are decreasing as a result of the ground
water pumping and treatment.
