The wells were initially drilled by Conoco Inc. as
ground-water monitoring wells but have subsequently gone dry due to
current drought conditions in the state.
The wells (MW16R, MW-17R, MW-18R, MW-22, and MW-29) were drilled to
approximately 50 feet and were incorporated by Conoco into a vapor
extraction remediation system on the station property. Historic vapor
testing by DuPont Environmental Remediation Services and recent testing by
our consultant (EVAX Technologies) show that these wells are no longer
necessary to be included in vapor extraction remediation as offsite wells _
showed nondetectable concentrations of hydrocarbon vapors (see attached
EVAX Vapor Concentration Site Map) .
Additionally, as you are probably aware, the adjacent property to the east
and south is currently being permitted for major development into a
shopping-center. Our concern is' that these wells will inadvertantly be
sheared off near the surface by earth moving equipment and will then have
to be located to facilitate proper well destruction.
BEAC=::-N
j A Member of the Ultramar Group of Companies #1 Quality and Service
Itrarrar
