Disposal of Excess Samples <br /> A. If an exces4 sample is known to be contaminated with <br /> potential human or animal pathogens, it will be treated <br /> as a standard microbiological waste for which the <br /> procedures are described in Section II. <br /> II. Disposal of Wastes Generated Durinq Microbiological Test' <br /> A. All wastes generated during standard microbiological <br /> testing or known to contain potential animal or human <br /> pathogens will be treated in the following manner: _ -: <br /> F_ <br /> a Microbial wastes are decontaminated every other day <br /> { or when begs are half full. <br /> s The bags must be autoclaved i.n secondary container. <br /> ° a Bags must be opened and 1 liter of tap water added to ?, <br /> assure the proper decontamination temperature is <br /> reached. <br /> a <br /> e All materials will be aterilized by the appropriate { <br /> procedures (autoclaving, dry hest, ethylene oxide or <br /> formaldehyde-vapor). <br /> e Sterilized liquid samples will be *laced iii e <br /> plastic-lined fiberpack containing Adsorb-Dri or the <br /> equivalent material. <br /> a When the fiberpack is full (about 40 pounds) <br /> $ additional Adsorb-Dri will he added; the inner liner <br /> saaled, the fiberpack taped closed and marked <br /> NONHAZARDOUS - AiONBURNABLE and placed in the dumpater <br /> by the janitorial-staff. <br /> a o Materials such as empty fl8aks, test tubes, pipettes <br /> -._ 4 _-- --___-- ---...- ---.----or—plas..tic-_items_no4 containing a liquid, may be - -- <br /> placed directly i»"fhe lergclastiic canteiner-rsn-- --- -- - --- -- <br /> casters located in Room 1114 and marked .NONhA2ARbt}U5 <br /> - MDN9'JRNABLE.
