Earnest TEL. NO: 209-583-5571 BACKGROUND: Ultramar purchased site from Conoco in July 1990. Several ground-water monitoring wells had been installed by Conoco (formerly Kayo Oil Company) at and near the site. At the time of site purchase, all but one well (MW-20) was dry. A vapor extraction system was operated at the site until the end of December 1990. The thermox unit was then removed and permitting for a catalytic unit was initiated. In February 1991, three additional ground-water monitoring wells (MW-34, MW-35, and MW-36) were installed along the south, east, and west boundaries of the site in an effort to evaluate both ground-water gradient and water quality. Soil and ground-water analyses showed nondetectable to low TPHg and benzene concentrations. A permit application for a catalytic incinerator was submitted to the APCD for processing and the unit began operation on August 23, 1991. The catalytic unit was removed and granular activated carbon was installed on September 9, 1992. Drilled six(6) borings and installed three hydro-punches for regulatory site closure. Removed and relocated double-walled piping and all soil below these lines were over- excavated to non-detectable levels: - SUMMARY OF THIS QUARTEWS ACTIVITIES. • Groundwater Monitoring was performed June 28, 1996.
