Earnest TEL. NO: 209-583-5571
BACKGROUND:
Ultramar purchased site from Conoco in July 1990. Several
ground-water monitoring wells had been installed by Conoco
(formerly Kayo Oil Company) at and near the site. At the time
of site purchase, all but one well (MW-20) was dry. A vapor
extraction system was operated at the site until the end of
December 1990. The thermox unit was then removed and
permitting for a catalytic unit was initiated.
In February 1991, three additional ground-water monitoring
wells (MW-34, MW-35, and MW-36) were installed along the
south, east, and west boundaries of the site in an effort to
evaluate both ground-water gradient and water quality. Soil
and ground-water analyses showed nondetectable to low TPHg and
benzene concentrations.
A permit application for a catalytic incinerator was submitted
to the APCD for processing and the unit began operation on
August 23, 1991 .
The catalytic unit was removed and granular activated carbon
was installed on September 9, 1992.
Drilled six (6) borings and installed three hydro-punches for
regulatory site closure. -
Removed and relocated double-walled piping and all soil below
these lines were over-excavated to non-detectable levels.
BEACON
A Member of the Ultramar Group of Companies #I Quality and Service
