(ATC) at the site located at 8125 El Dorado Street in French
Camp, California (Figure 1). Sampling was performed to monitor the distribution of petroleum
hydrocarbons in groundwater. Monitoring was performed to determine the groundwater flow
• direction and the hydraulic gradient in the uppermost groundwater.
SITE HISTORY
In November 1995, one 2,000-gallon and two 10,000-gallon capacity underground storage tanks
(USTs) and related piping were excavated and removed from the site. Evidence of petroleum
impacted soil was encountered and approximately 3,777 cubic yards of contaminated soil were
excavated and removed. Three groundwater monitoring wells identified as JLM3, JLM4, and JLM5
were installed at the site in November 2001 and a Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report
prepared by Upgradient was submitted to the California Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CRWQCB) in December 2001. A quarterly groundwater monitoring program was implemented in
June 2002.
Petroleum hydrocarbons have been detected in groundwater samples collected from JLM3, JLM4,
and JLM5. The historical groundwater flow direction was reported to be variable but predominantly
toward the southeast.
In a letter dated October 10, 2003, Mr. James Barton of the CRWQCB requested submittal of a work
plan to install additional groundwater monitoring wells. Upgradient submitted the Work Plan for
Further Groundwater Investigation, dated November 10, 2003, proposing the installation of four
additional on-site monitoring wells. Mr. Barton approved the work plan in a letter dated December 9,
2003.
•
s:\envimmmtan8589\repons\2006 IQR.doc 1
