The replacement well will be installed to approximately 69 feet below
grade and will be constructed of 2-inch inside diameter schedule 40 PVC well screen and casing with
approximately five feet of 0.010 inch slot screened PVC. A sand pack will be placed in the annulus of
the well extending from the bottom of the well screen to approximately two to three feet above the top
of the screen. Approximately three feet of bentonite will be placed on top of the sand pack and
hydrated with potable water. The remaining annulus will be grouted to surface with cement grout. To
protect the integrity of the well, a locking, watertight well plug will be installed on the well and a
watertight wellhead labeled "monitoring well' will be set in concrete over the well.
The drilling will be conducted under the current drilling permit application issued by the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) by a State-licensed (C57) drilling company. All
drill cuttings will be stored on site in 55-gallon drums pending laboratory results.
i
Once the monitoring well is installed, the top of the well casing will be surveyed to sub-meter accuracy i
relative to a known benchmark by a State of California licensed land surveyor. At least 48 hours after
installation, the well will be developed using surging and bailing techniques until the purged
groundwater is relatively sediment free. The well will be sampled at least 48 hours after development.
Purged groundwater will be stored in 55-gallon drums approved for hazardous liquid storage pending
laboratory results.
i
If you have any questions or require additional information regarding this workplan, please contact us
at(209)579-2221.
Respectfully submitted,
ATC Associates Inc.
