r
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Groundwater monitoring was performed at 8125 S El Dorado Street(J&L Market) on
November 18, 2003 After the depth to the static water'level was measured, the standing
water was purged and water samples were collected from the three monitoring wells The
samples were analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons in the gasoline and diesel
ranges, volatile aromatic hydrocarbons (BTEX benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
xylene), gasoline oxygenates (methyl tertiary butyl ether, etc ), and lead scavengers (1,2-
dichloroethane I
Concentrations of all hydrocarbons remain low at this site, and an overall decline of more
than 80% has been observed in the two impacted wells since monitoring began in June
2002 There was a slight increase in the concentration of a few analytes this quarter in
JLM-5, while those in JLM-3 remained fairly constant and those in JLM-4 declined
below the detection limit These results suggest that the dissolved-phase plume is
naturally attenuating, and that there is no residual source of hydrocarbons in the
unsaturated zone to re-contaminate the groundwater
The depth to groundwater on November 18 was approximately 28 feet, which is about 2
feet shallower than in September The piezometric surface sloped to the southeast at a
gradient of 0 0043 ft/ft
•
1
