STATE OF CAUFORNIA
CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD—
CENTRAL VALLEY REGION
944$ ROLMER ROAD
SACRAMENTO, CA 05827-3093
18 October 1988
Mr. Robert C. Box 7640
San Francisco, CA 94120
•
GEORGE DEUKMUTAN, Opy rnor
SITE INVESTIGATION WORKPLAN, GROUND WATER MONITORING WELLS AND
SOIL SAMPLING, PG&E TRACY FORMER MANUFACTURED CAS PLANT SITE,
TRACY, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
we have reviewed your workplan to install up to four ground water
monitoring wells at PG&E Tracy Former Manufactured Gas Plant
Site. Additionally, the workplan calls for up to 31 soil core
borings to be drilled within the property boundaries. Soil
borings will have an approximate depth of ten feet. Three
monitoring wells will have an approximate depth of 25 feet and
one deep well will have an approximate depth of 50 feet. Well
screen locations will be based on lithology.
In our 17 October 1988 telephone discussion, the following
adjust -tants to the workplan were agreed upon:
1. PG&E will install four (4) inch ground water monitoring
wells instead of two (2) inch wells.
2. After groundwater monitoring wells have been developed
and stabilized, PG&E will determine whether to use a pump
teat or perform slugs test on the wells. PG&E shall
consult with the Hoard on this decision and the factors
used to make the determination.
3. Ultimate disposal of the wastewater generated by
development of the wells and by any aquifer test will be
based on its' level of contamination. once the
wastewater has been characterized, PG&E will propose a
disposal option after its consultation with the Board.
4. We recommend that the monitoring wells be surveyed and
the hydraulic gradient determined monthly. once these
readings are determine to be relatively constant,
quarterly reporting of these readings will be
sufficient.
