Similarly, waste water from well development, sampling, and equipment
decontamination (steam cleaning) will be stored onsite in a portable Baker
tank. One sample will be collected from the tank and analyzed for PNAs,
BTEX, CAM metals, phenols, cyanides, sulfides, and pH prior to disposal.
4.4 Aquifer Characterization
The objectives of the aquifer characterization are to estimate
the flow direction(s) and flow rate of the groundwater in the
' uppermost aquifer beneath the Tracy site.
''J
3542a/BAV102 23
The following tasks are proposed to accomplish these objectives:
4.4.1 Determine horizontal and vertical hydraulic gradients and
estimate groundwater flow direction(s)
The top of the casing of each observation well will be surveyed to the
nearest 0.01 foot to allow comparison of the water elevations of the
different wells. The depth to water will be measured from the top of each
well casing with an electric immersion probe that emits a sound when it
include
contacts water. A completed measurement will replication until
agreement between measurements is attained to within 0.01 foot.
Water level measurements collected from wells screened at the water table
will be used to analyze horizontal hydraulic gradient(s) of the uppermost
aquifer beneath the site. By interpolating between locations with measured
'
elevations, a horizontal water level contour map will be generated.
Water level data collected from the well cluster located at the northeast
be hydraulic
corner of the site will used to estimate the vertical gradient
of the uppermost aquifer.
Actual groundwater flow direction(s) will be calculated by combining the
vertical and horizontal components of flow, assuming isotropic conditions
prevail in the aquifer.
''J
3542a/BAV102 23
